Increta-haesitata-ovata caterpillar complex

I am currently raising a caterpillar in this group, and I was wondering whether the caterpillar has its pupa underground or whether it builds a cocoon. I am also wondering if the pupa overwinters.

Thanks for any help.

Oak Daggers
Pupa overwinter. Most in this group like to form a chamber in soft, decaying wood or bark, and spend their last 2 instars there. Some make a cocoon of soil particles and debris. Prepupal larvae turn an orange-brown to reddish-purple color.
