Yes, I know that iN has many i.d. problems and might not be too useful for many serious researchers. However, they clearly state that their primary mission is to engage people in nature, and they are certainly succeeding in doing that.

It is fortunate that some very competent scientists and amateur naturalists do help with correct and cautious identifications.

Here is the map from iNaturalist showing C. glandium in many areas of the U.S. I see that it is common in Europe. I'm a beginner who mostly concentrates on moths and truly try my best to identify what I photograph. Stay well, Pam

since the trusted sources show no Canadian/US records of C. glandium, i'll make further inquiries (ask the leading experts on weevils and on adventive species), but prima facie this map looks utterly suspicious to me

the amount of misleading data and "false positives" coming out of that site is staggering

C. glandium ever recorded in the W. Hemisphere?
