Micro moth - Neoheliodines cliffordi

Micro moth - Neoheliodines cliffordi
Naperville, Dupage County, Illinois, USA
August 20, 2020
Size: 2-3mm maybe
Found late afternoon in an overgrown area along the BNSF train tracks behind a strip mall where I was getting my car repaired.

The antennae tips are light-colored; you can see that better in the other images I have that were blurrier. Wish I had gotten some better, more clear images, but my car was ready!

You're right - I definitely eyeball it (to be fair, I collect marbles and can measure those by eye). My specimen could have been closer to 4mm than the '2-3' I guesstimated. The bg info page for N. cliffordi says 7-8mm which mine definitely was not.

If the thumb you posted is ID'd correctly, then maybe the bg info is off?
