fighting monarchs where body of one is ripped off its wings?

fighting monarchs where body of one is ripped off its wings?
Chicago, Cook County
August 23, 2020
I saw and have some video of two monarchs fighting. I stopped watching them and later i saw what looked like the older one on the ground. It had something attached and attacking its body that I originally thought was a wasp. it took me a minute or so to pry it off and then the monarch flew away. Later remembering the white dots, I thought it might have been a monarch body and went back and found this monarch dead on the ground who perhaps appears to have lost its body? Is this scenario possible? That one fighting monarch might rip off the body of another monarch and that body part keeps fighting?
