Belostoma? - Belostoma - female

Belostoma? - Belostoma - Female
Laredo, Webb County, Texas, USA
August 26, 2020
Size: ~1 inch
This little guy has been in our chlorinated pool for at least a few days, no clue how it got there as there isn't any source of freshwater in the immediate vicinity. It really likes to chase us in the pool if that indicates anything. I've been having trouble matching it with anything, maybe since it seems like it has a bit longer of a face from the ones I've seen on the site

Female
Just found out that it's a female as she laid some eggs just above the water on a stick I gave her. I'm going to release her to a more suitable environment tomorrow, but I'm not sure if I should hold the eggs back until they hatch since there isn't a male to take care of them.

Interesting
Interesting that she laid eggs on a stick. Normally in this genus and the Belostomatinae subfamily females lay eggs on the backs of males, and the males care for the eggs until hatching.

looks like a Belostoma
These bugs are air breathers and can fly.
