Large numbers of these Curculionidae were infesting clumps of Balsamroot (Balsamorhiza).

Omias
I took some pictures of Omias on arrowleaf balsamroot south of Keller - just down the road from Republic (about 50 miles). Your pictures were taken in 2008. I took mine in 2010. Here are the images. It was ID'ed as Omias saccatus.
