A dull or worn Great Spangled Fritillary (Speyeria cybele) or perhaps some western subspecies or a hybrid? What confuses me is the relatively narrow submarginal band (e.g., compare to https://bugguide.net/node/view/1887246) and dark outer margins on the forewing.

Michael: There is much variability in this species (perhaps 10 subspecies). I will keep searching and hope to return and update this at a later date.
