Micro Moth - Cameraria hamadryadella

Micro Moth - Cameraria hamadryadella
Point Pelee National Park, Ontario, Canada
May 28, 2005
Size: 5 mm
I found a couple of these tiny moths resting on a tree trunk along a woodland trail. They didn't look like much from a distance, but they're actually quite attractive!

Micro on tree
This is Gracillariidae: Cameraria hamadryadella. The larva is an upperside blotch leaf miner on oaks.

We are reminded of Argyresthia
But don't know what North American species would be related to them. Some sample images: bonnetella , spinosella . We're eager to see what Bob discovers from his search.

I just heard from Richard L. Brown at MEM on this one....
.... and he suggests it belongs in Gracillariidae, without further specificity at this time.

Fantastik Foto, Jay!
I'll send this to a couple of people who might at least identify the family, if not the species.
