Mating Ptecticus - Ptecticus trivittatus - Male Female

These stratiomyids have been prolific around our compost for many years but I realized that I've never uploaded photos of them here for identification. These two Ptecticus were clinging inside the wall of the black plastic compost tub. The male seemed to be tapping on or stroking the females eyes and head while they were mating.
