Common Buckthron miner - Stigmella rhamnicola

Note 3 larvae in these mines -- 2 side-by-side on the left, one on the right. These mines are not too hard to find on Rhamnus cathartica on our property. I have worked with buckthorns as part of my research for over 20 years, and these moths must be gaining a foothold in the area because this is the first year I have seen them with any frequency.
