Banded - Moved
That Hickory sp. makes this a more difficult ID. It should be out of geographical range in Maine, until it isn't. So one has to consider it.

Banded is more common. Though this was near the coast, where things seem to creep northward. But Hickory likes the treetops, so more unlikely to be seen anywhere.

The FW PM band does not appear to widen at leading edge, so that is a vote for Banded.

The HW postmedian band is showing some white edging on the inward side, but not enough to scare me off Banded.

The degree to which the sky blue patch (doesn't) extend forward of inner edge of orange spots. A vote for Banded.

The incomplete, median HW band seems wide, a vote for Hickory. But maybe it isn't.

On the HW midwing, the leading edge (costa) bars are not aligned with the cell end bars. A strong vote for Banded.

And hopefully last, the color on your specimen seems light gray-brown like Hickory is supposed to be. Banded is supposed to be Slate gray to blackish gray. A weak vote for Hickory?

One day there will be genetic studies that will clarify everything.

Moved from Satyrium.

Thanks!
