unknown jumping spider - Phidippus adumbratus

unknown jumping spider - Phidippus adumbratus
Ventura, Ventura County, California, USA
May 24, 2005
Size: about 1/2 inch
I'd been getting some decent photos of the spider and then a fly landed on the next leaf. The spider promptly ignored me and began hunting. The plant is 'Night Blooming Jasmine', time was mid morning.

adumbratus or californicus mo
adumbratus or californicus most likely

Phidippus adumbratus
color and pattern-wise and it's from California. Definitely not insignarius despite pattern resemblance. P. Californicus also a distinct possibility.

Markings
look very much like insignarius but the spider is found only as far west as Colorado. Kastoni looks similar pattern-wise. Can't seem to find a color image. Definitely of the genus Phidippus.

Phidippus
adumbratus or californicus are my two best guesses

id
would additional, closer and more detailed images of the spider alone be helpful? i have several... ted

Phidippus adumbratus
I'm almost certain.

Jeff Hollenbeck agrees
P. adumbratus, immature female. We'll move to guide page
