Mite found in Terrarium

Mite found in Terrarium
Michigan, USA
September 20, 2020
Size: <1mm
Found indoors in terrarium with store-bought terrarium substrate. Terrarium contained helix aspersa, Armadillidium maculatum, and Gromphadorhina portentosa (since moved to a different terrarium). Soil conditions are warm (~75*f) and very moist. Don't seem to be bothering living snails, but one snail was found dead this morning and was covered in them. Mites seem to have several small hairs protruding from abdomen. Observed feasting on fungus gnat or fruit fly larva.

Moved
Moved from Mites and Ticks.

Astigmata: Acaridae
These are acarid mites, possibly members of the genus Sancassania. From my observations, Sancassania are quite fond of protein and will scavenge on dead invertebrates and prey on small, soft living ones (like fly larvae).

Cropped and moved to Acari for expert attention.
Moved from ID Request.

With luck, others will be able to take the ID further.
