Praying Mantis - Tenodera sinensis

Praying Mantis - Tenodera sinensis
Harmony, McHenry County, Illinois, USA
October 26, 2004

Tenodera aridifolia sinensis
it's a Chinese Mantid Tenodera aridifolia sinensis. The insect most often known as a "praying mantis" has a little eye spot on the inside of it's grasping legs, but I think the common name is fine for any mantid. In this case it's the very large and very awsome species mentioned above. (personal fave)
