Nemoria from dogwood - Nemoria

Nemoria from dogwood - Nemoria
Pine Brook, Isanti County, Minnesota, USA
September 14, 2020
Size: ~ 15 mm
Shaken from dogwood on edge of swamp. By September 24 still had not pupated. In captivity seems to prefer to perch on or near necrotic leaves. Very trashy but effective camouflage. I most suspect mimosaria but will never know as it was found shrunken and dead about September 26. I add an image of the cadaver which shows several interesting similarities to that of a Trichodezia albovittata (posted there). The similarities include great shrinkage, much constriction in the anterior abdominal segments, ventral flexion, possible swelling of the posterior abdomen, and perhaps dorsiflexion at the anal proleg. I have so far seen no evidence of parasitoids and inclined to think a fungus, bacterium, or virus might be the cause.
