Synonyms and other taxonomic changes
prunivorata and undulata were formerly placed in genus Hydria
4 species in North America listed at All-Leps: hastata, prunivorata, subhastata, undulata
wingspan 26-32, based on several Internet photos
Of the 4 species in this genus, 2 are mostly black with white bands, and 2 are medium brown with many zigzag lines running across the wings. The two groups don't look at all similar, and one would never guess that both groups belonged to the same genus (see sample images of both in Internet References section below).

The variation in pattern among individuals of R. hastata and R. subhastata is much greater than the variation between the two species. In these 7 photos; the first 2 are hastata, and the last 5 are subhastata. Could you tell which was which if the specimens weren't labelled? Since these two species have virtually identical geographic ranges, examination of genitalia is the only reliable way to separate the two.
