Marl Pennant - Male - Macrodiplax balteata

Marl Pennant - Male - Macrodiplax balteata
Hilton Head, Beaufort County, South Carolina, USA
June 11, 2008
Taken along Port Royal Sound in a grassy area. At first I thought it was a black saddlebag...but no saddles. It seemed to be all very dark/black but with a little white by its head. The legs have a little light color at the top. I have paged through all the skimmers and have now given up. Any thoughts? Thanks so much!

Deja vu
I saw a photo almost exactly like this a week or so ago. Marl Pennant, Macrodiplax balteata, male.

Thanks!
Yes, you identified the female for me earlier. I didn't realize that the male was so much darker. Thanks so much! Carol
