German Yellowjacket Nest with Pupae - Vespula germanica

German Yellowjacket Nest with Pupae - Vespula germanica
Brighton, Monroe County, New York, USA
June 15, 2020
By June 15th, some of the cells that had contained larvae are empty. Also, 2 of the cells with pupae have been ripped open, exposing the pupae. One of them has a dark streak of unknown nature. Body fluids? It looks as though some kind of predator has been at work, although I never saw any creature at or near the nest other than the queen.
