Platylabops (Ichneumon) faciens - Platylabops - female

Platylabops (Ichneumon) faciens - Platylabops - Female
near Tony Grove, 41.8876, -111.6009, Cache County, Utah, USA
According the current taxonomic literature, this is "Ichneumon faciens". Not only does it match the original description, but it was compared with a Townes' homotype (a specimen that itself was compared to the holotype). Although it is currently in the genus Ichneumon, this truly belongs in Platylabops both in my view and that of Henry Townes (judging from his det label and placement in the EMUS collection). It's slightly surprising that Heinrich did not transfer this to Platylabops in his revisions of the eastern Nearctic fauna. He doesn't mention this species in Ichneumon or Platylabops so he was apparently unaware of its existence.

Collected in Malaise trap from 12-26.vii.2020.
