I've never noticed a weevil quite like this one before. This is exactly as I found it, with 1.5 antennae. Found it on Black Cherry, I think.

Mites?
It looks like this one has some immature mites in their red sacs clinging to its right-side femur. btw, there are more images I posted of this species here: http://bugguide.net/node/view/18807/bgimage

 
Mites
I had wondered about those--thanks so much! Wish I'd noticed them while I was shooting the beetle. I would have loved to have gotten some closer shots of the mites!

Primitive weevil
I believe this is a primitive or "straight-snout" weevil in family Brentidae. Compare with this one:
