Aphid birth - Macrosiphum euphorbiae Oak Ridge, Anderson County, Tennessee, USA May 31, 2007 Size: 2mm
I was excited to see this red aphid giving birth (even if it did mean there would be another hungry mouth sucking on my tomato plants!). There is always a lot of drama happening wherever there are aphids. They are eaten by ladybugs and their larvae, lacewing larvae eat them, parasitic wasps lay their eggs on them and turn them into "mummies". I have more photos of aphids on my website: http://www.easttennesseewildflowers.com/gallery/view_album.php?set_albumName=Insects_II
