We found this rove beetle under a rotting log, mixed in with lots of isopods.

Moved from Tasgius. Moving tentatively, based on my additonal pics and Adam's web-based key to species. I'd be thrilled to frass some of these images, if someone will suggest which ones its OK to get rid of... :)

for the tip, v - I've added two more images which I believe show this is T. winkleri. I didn't realize there were only three species and all were covered by this very nice key. :)

I agree, Tasgius winkleri. It's great to see the key being used. Unfortunately it won't work for the other genera of Staphylinina in the west, but most of these species are now represented on bugguide.
