Extremely Small Grayish bug (flea?) -
Romualdius scaber
Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA

This picture is just for scale you can see the face on the dime. I am thinking possibly a flea? The other picture shows its antennae..

I'm Confused
The Info page lists Trachyploeus bifoveolatus (Beck 1817) as a synonym of Romualdius scaber (Linnaeus, 1758).
Bousquet et al. (2013) list both T. scaber (Linnaeus, 1767) and R. bifoveolatus (Beck, 1817). Borovec (2009) transferred bifoveolatus (Beck, 1817) to Romualdius and lists Trachyphloeus scaber Redtenbacher, 1849 as synonyms however, T. scaber (Linnaeus, 1767) is not mentioned.

Antennae Placement
Aren't the antennae to far back? I found images of T. bifoveolatus and they all show the antennae coming out of the tip of the snout, not the middle.

Antennae placement o.k.
Steve, I don´t know on which images you referred - but there are lot of misidentifications in the web.
this image
is 100% trustworthy, please compare.

That's one of the images I was using.
I was looking at that image and comparing it to T. angustisetu*lus on the same site
here
. I also compared them using the images
here
. I'm not suggesting that JesseM's image is of T. angustisetu*lus but between the two it looked better. The antennae on JesseM's images seem to come out of the middle of the snout like that of T. angustisetu*lus whereas the antennae of T. bifoveolatus come out closer to the tip of the snout.
I am a total novice at this and have no idea how much variation there is with this feature. I really appreciate the time that experts like yourself donate to helping out and I hope that my questioning does not offend.
