Neoclytus acuminatus
is a widespread and common species, and fairly consistent in color pattern. The size of 1" would seem a bit large, but I have seen some specimens from southern Georgia that are close to that size. The species is extremely variable in size, even within a single population. I reared a series a few years ago in PA and the adults ranged from around 5mm to nearly 18mm.
