Bolas spider? (Possibly mastophora phrynosoma?) - Mastophora phrynosoma
Cayuga, Haldimand, Ontario, Canada
September 5, 2020
Size: 15-20mm
Spotted on wild grape leaf next to path in mixed Carolinian forest, on grounds of national historic site. Very still, some webbing noticed on leaf surface, found mid-morning. Did not stir while I photographed using macro lens. Have never seen a spider like this!

I found one other record on Flick'r from Wallaceburg, Sept. 16, 2014.

Thanks! There were two other
Thanks! There were two other records on iNaturalist in Ontario for this species, both southeast of me, but amazing to hear this is the first one here on BugGuide. How can you see other records and where they have been recorded? I’m new to the site. I just really wanted to share this sighting as much as I could, I felt sure it was pretty special!
