Nitidulid with phoretic mites - Carpophilus hemipterus

Nitidulid with phoretic mites - Carpophilus hemipterus
Nashua, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA
October 3, 2020
Size: App. 2-3 mm
Found clambering along the rim of our compost bin. We've been disposing of a lot of vegetable and fruit waste of late due to autumn canning and baking, which has attracted a large number of flies (mostly drosophilids) and small beetles.
