Synchlora aerata, eggs to moths - Synchlora aerata
Spokane, Spokane County, Washington, USA
October 12, 2020
Cocoons, pupae, and pre-pupal caterpillars. The eggs that these moths came from were collected from wild females here, and raised indoors on Coreopsis.

Very nice life cycle.
I realized that the one time I tried to rear one of these, I got a parasitoid wasp. So I'm trying again.

In your photo, are some of the pupae still enclosed in the cryptic plant parts? I ask because my larva has quit moving and I was wondering if it died or perhaps, given your photo, it might be pupating in the plant debris disguise.

Thanks.

08-19-21 Update: yes, there is a pupa within the plant parts. And what I assume is the final larval shed on the plant debris.

Cocoons
The caterpillars do not pupate directly in their floral cloak. Instead, they spin a wrapping around their entire body (as opposed to only covering their back with plant parts as feeding larvae) using parts of their current disguise, as well as some of the matter around them.
