Male, family Megachilidae, and probably a species of Osmia. You may want to wait for Dr. Ascher's return to confirm that.

Well, he charged me to find some more Washington bee pics. Doesn't look like I found anything *too* interesting, but I did find a good half dozen (new ones for me!) this last week. The hunt continues!! :)
