Odonteus liebecki - male

Odonteus liebecki - Male
55 and Sedwick, Durham County, North Carolina, USA
May 31, 2005
Size: 8mm
Detailed lateral view of head and pronotum. The structure of the canthus, the horizontal ridge running in an arc along the middle of the eye, helps differentiate Bolboceras from the related genus Eucanthus. (1) The canthus is visible in this photo, and confirms this is Bolboceras, I believe. (Taxonomy now puts this in Odonteus.)

Horn
Nice shot of horn. I had a hard time getting mine to pose just right.
