17 Year Cicada - Magicicada septendecim
Coram, Suffolk County, New York, USA

Found crawling in street in residential area. Colony only about 2 blocks long, and with thousands of individuals. Several miles to the east, in Ridge, a colony in pine/oak barrens was over a mile long and probably contains many tens of thousands of individuals. I am placing this species based on range only. Please feel free to correct. Not sure of brood info for these.
