This moth has been pestering me for an ID for almost a year now, off and on. Closest I could come so far is 6798 -- Elm Spanworm Moth -- Ennomos subsignaria. Does anyone have any thoughts regarding this moths ID??

Moved from Geometrid Moths.

The flight date and the large bipectinate antennae and the angled outer margin of the FW are what I identified by.

Snowy Geometer....
....the Elm Spanworm has a completely different wing. Not rounded, but angles.

Thank you
very much Danny. The Elm Spanworm just didn't seem to fit. Why I couldn't ID this moth will remain one of the secrets of the universe but suspect just plan old age. 8-)

Thanks again,
Gary

well Gary
I skimmed through the entire set of 151 thumbnail pages for the superfamily geometroidea to see if I could find a match or something even close... (see what happens when the school year is over and I have time to kill? I perseverate on moths).

I suppose I should have known that the answer to the mystery of the universe would be out of my reach.
