Size: less than an inch
This was in the garden this morning. I don't know what it is.


Moved from Ocyptamus.

Ocyptamus antiphates
This is Ocyptamus antiphates which can be found in Florida according to a reference on Systema Dipterorum. The specimen keys out to this in a key to Ocyptamus and it seems this species has a great deal of variation in color.

Moved from Syrphinae.
This image would benefit from some cropping; lots of empty space and not enough detail. It may have to be frassed eventually.

It's a little hover fly, maybe Ocyptamus or close to it in the Syrphinae (Diptera: Syrphidae).

We have a match!

Ocyptamus, Florida style. (Love those tinted wings!)
