Interesting...
My North American reference (Bor/Del) does not even mention the family Bourletiellidae - they include all Bourletiella under Sminthuridae. Frans, do you know when they added this family?

 
An up to date taxonomic hierarchy for Collembola

Bourletiellidae has been introduced by Börner in 1912. It is currently used in the sense of Bretfeld (1994).

ID
Wow, if you can characterize an insect as cute, I guess this one would be a great example. Regarding further ID, I have the keys to the springtails, and based on the apical papilla and other characters, what we have here is in the suborder Symphypleona - family Sminthuridae. Sorry, but I am not familiar with Canadian species.
