Slitting firewood I came upon this woodworking, the only piece that did not break apart, in what I think was an oak, Quercus sp. I'd guess (bad protocol) it was Carpenter Ants but there wasn't an ant to be found. Several days later, splitting a log from the same tree, found several pockets of ants:


I searched most (there are a lot) of the BG Camponotus photos but didn't see much that would confirm this woodworking.
