Clearwing Wasp Moth - Synanthedon resplendens - male

Clearwing Wasp Moth - Synanthedon resplendens - Male
Long Beach, Los Angeles County, California, USA
June 17, 2008
Size: 2cm (3/4")
Found this one in my backyard. But 99% sure that it hatched from the White Oak tree in the front yard where the other photos were taken the same day about 6 hours later. A couple years ago there were about 10 on the tree in July with a lot of the empty casings still in the tree.

This is as far as I can go with ID. Move if in wrong section please.

Nice photos, Bruce,
but they're not of the same specimen. The one on the leaf is a male, note the generally darker appearance, and dark anal tuft. Also, note the more pectinate antenna.
The other two images are of a female, generally yellower (compare the abdominal bands, they're not identical with the first image), with a yellow anal tuft.
Please unlink the male from the two females which can then be posted separately.

Thanks
for all the info. Appreciate it. Unlinked and fixed them I believe.
Thanks again for the help.
