Orbellia barbata
Main ID: reddish-yellow legs. The only other one in North America is Orbellia petersoni, which has dark legs.
These 'snow flies' are often found under snow near forest edges. In Europe, they use rodent burrows. They fly in October & November.
This fly has not been recorded for Ontario, although the type specimen is from British Columbia.
