I assume this is some instar larval stage of a butterfly, just not sure what type. Found on an oak tree leaf. see also: here

Looks like...
It might be the pupa of a Geometrid moth. I'm assuming that you did not see it crawling around.

Yeah, it seemed pretty secured to the leaf when I saw it... definitely wasn't crawling around. I usually try to do a better job at getting a side view but didn't this time I guess. Other photo shows more webbing:https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/948019744
