Size
When I looked at the information about distinguishing L Americanus from similar species it looks like size is important. Looking at other photos I have compared to the size of my hand, it looks like these bugs were approximately 50 to 55 mm long

From what I can see, the straight outer margin of the hind tibia and the eye shape rules out Benacus griseus, while the lack of banding on the legs and the interocular space (the space between the eyes) is equal to the width of the eye, which eliminates L. uhleri. However, we should wait for expert advice.
