Palo Colorado Canyon in the Redwoods, Near Big Sur, Monterey County, California, USA
June 17, 2008
Size: 2 inchs
I see these bugs crawling around a great deal. They don't bite. I counted about 19 segments. 4 legs per segment. They don't have back pinchers like a centipede.

Moved
Moved from Harpaphe.

Moved from Millipedes.

No bite, BUT
Be careful if you handle these. Their defensive chemical secretion is a cyanide compound.
