Dump Fly with Mites?

Dump Fly with Mites?
Agawam, Hampden County, Massachusetts, USA
December 4, 2020
Size: 7 mm (fly), <1 mm (mite)
Are these black dump flies (Ophyra spp.) or something similar? I collected large quantities of these flies from a rendering plant. Overhead doors were left open. Pastures nearby.

The flies were sickened by MaxForce Fly Spot Bait applications. All flies were covered in these red mites which were visible to the naked eye. The mites were tucked into the neck, base of legs, and bottom side of the abdomen of the flies.

Sorry I cannot get more magnification on the mites.

The fly and the mite should be unlinked.
Linking is reserved for different views of the same specimen. The two can be cross referenced by placing thumbnails in the Remarks section of each, if desired.

Thanks!
