Anavitrinella pampinaria - male

Anavitrinella pampinaria - Male
Angelica, Allegany County, New York, USA
June 10, 2008
Would this be a 6586 -- Brown-shaded Gray Moth -- Iridopsis defectaria? Too many similar in Iridopsis genus for this novice.

Gary

Anavitrinella
It's actually an Anavitrinella pampinaria. Note the pale abdominal band just below the thorax (usually more noticeable). That's one quick way to spot these.

Thanks J.D.
Made a note of your tip and put in computer file with this species hopefully less confused next Gray photographed.
