Found on American Beech Fagus grandifolia. According to Wagner in Owlet Caterpillars of eastern North America p. 277 this may be an undescribed species close to A. increta - at least up to the publication of the book (2011). He describes it as 'consistently smaller and more pale than Eclipsed Oak Dagger (A. increta)...'
