Green Dragonfly by Creek in North Fork of Oak Creek Canyon - Ophiogomphus arizonicus

Green Dragonfly by Creek in North Fork of Oak Creek Canyon - Ophiogomphus arizonicus
Sedona, Coconino County, Arizona, USA
August 2, 2008
This is one of the first dragonflies I ever photographed, and I always thought it looked like a tiny green Army helicopter. I found it next to the creek in North Fork of Oak Creek Canyon north of Sedona.

Gomphidae
That's a gorgeous one! Family Gomphidae, also known as clubtails. Odonata is not my strength so not sure on Genus or Species.

Identification
Thank you for your help on this!

Arizona snaketail
Thanks for providing the Family name, it helped me narrow it down! It looks like it could be Ophiogomphus arizonicus, or the Arizona snaketail

Identification
Thank you!

This image: https://bugguide.net/node/view/788293 looks almost identical to mine, and was taken in the same location, at Sedona, so I moved it to Species Ophiogomphus arizonicus - Arizona Snaketail, here: https://bugguide.net/node/view/85018/bgimage

If anyone disagrees, or my actions conflict with protocols here, I will be happy to change it.
