Eurypogon species - Eurypogon niger - male

Eurypogon species - Eurypogon niger - Male
Athens, Athens County, Ohio, USA
June 7, 2008
Size: 3.7 mm
Several flew to UV light. Note the elytral punctation is much more developed than in niger and the antennal segs 2 and 3 are very small 2+3 < 4.
As with the Eurypogons from NM, these must be changed from harrisii to niger because the key in Downie and Arnett is not correct. I will leave them at the genus level for now.

After reviewing the literature with my colleague Kevin Hinson, I must correct the identification of this specimen. Using the key in D&A I had called it harrisii but it is actually niger.
