Fly with fungus

Fly with fungus
Toronto, Ontario, Canada
June 20, 2008
Size: 8mm approx
First time I've found one of these. Looked quite normal from a distance, but not moving when I turned the leaf was a dead giveaway. On Willow.

Very cool, Hannah
Just came across this, and the fly caught my eye - it looks a lot like one I found that was also infected with a fungus:

Perhaps this species of fly is more vulnerable to infection for some reason, or just really common?
Thank you for sharing! Weird how the mouthparts end up getting "glued" to the substrate.
