Unknown Gas Station Moth - Pachysphinx modesta

Size: about 3"
Found this one in a gas station parking in Liberty, MO. He was just hanging out between the pumps, and since he only moved when bothered, I was afraid he would be run over so I moved him into a safe place. He was rather large, I would say about 3" and I would really like to know what kind he is?? I have looked for a while but have absolutely NO idea. Any ideas would be appreciated!!
