New Jersey Moth - Nymphuliella daeckealis

New Jersey Moth - Nymphuliella daeckealis
Warren Grove, Ocean County, New Jersey, USA
September 13, 2020
This was a heartbreakingly pretty specimen on the sheet, but it sabotaged itself by fleeing, when sought for capture, to the UV bulb and forcing itself under the netting. There it remained, preferring frying, disfigurement, and death to sharing its beauty by remaining photogenic. I didn't remove it from bulb and netting till next day, when I found it surprisingly in almost good enough shape for at least an ID-able photo. Submitted because currently there are only 3 other images in all of Bugguide (all also from NJ!), and because it has this interesting, albeit sad, yet frass-redeeming, tale to share. And I shall return next season to seek a cooperative and perfect specimen.
