Sue and Wes Dixon Waterfowl Refuge - Gall Wasp - Cynipidae - Acraspis

Sue and Wes Dixon Waterfowl Refuge - Gall Wasp - Cynipidae - Acraspis
Sue and Wes Dixon Waterfowl Refuge, Putnam County, Illinois, USA
January 12, 2021
Size: ~10mm
Further ID appreciated

A particularly warm winter day (37°F) has caused my local wetland nature preserve to flair with life! This guy was still pretty inactive, refusing to budge from a gentle poke. Spiders hunted springtails thriving in the mud
