Found within a thick covering of Hypnum growing over a well-rotted tree stump.
Due to the wet weather and temperatures in the low-to-mid 40's (°F), the snow has been thin and patchy, but the mosses and lichens have been well hydrated.
A second specimen, a male, was collected from within Polytrichum commune growing along the edge of a large hole perhaps left when a tree fell over some years ago.
