Red Leafhopper - Eratoneura hartii

Red Leafhopper - Eratoneura hartii
Springfield, Fairfax County, Virginia, USA
June 1, 2005
Size: 3mm
Not the best photograph, but I found the coloration of this small leafhopper to be very striking. It was on an apple tree, and I only got this one picture before it flew away.

Erythroneura hartii
This is a highly distinctive species on apple trees.

The photo is actually quite good considering the tiny size of the insect. Quality photos of such "microleafhoppers" are rare.

Erythroneura hartii
As always, thanks for your help! I find leafhoppers difficult to photograph since they are often very small and skittish like this one, but will do my best in documenting more of them.
